This past May, Kathryn graduated magna cum laude from the George Washington University with a major in Journalism and Mass Communications, and a minor in Law & Society.

 

She is most passionate about multimedia storytelling and strategic communications. Kathryn has a working knowledge of broadcast scriptwriting, as well as proven audio and video production skills.

 

Kathryn has more than three years of newsroom experience, with her most recent work being an internship with U.S. Senator Bob Casey's press office. Her passion for writing started from a young age, which led to her getting involved with her local newspaper in rural Pennsylvania, where she interned for two summers as a general assignment reporter.

Above all, Kathryn cares most about working hard and telling the truth, and she is eager to continue using her passion for writing to connect local communities with relevant, factual news and information that they care about.

In her free time, Kathryn enjoys writing poems, watching live music, going on hikes with her two dogs and volunteering at Life Pieces to Masterpieces in DC.

Whether she is covering metropolitan arts and culture for the GW Hatchet, or reporting on agriculture and poverty in small town USA, Kathryn is dedicated to ethical journalistic practices and aspires to use her writing skills to increase the public’s trust in the media.
